The ACES project is a larger study that takes place over the course of the next four (4) years. We will contact you again once a year for the next four years and will invite you to participate in the same study again so we can understand how things might change over time.
Families who agree to participate in the follow-up sessions over the course of the next four years will receive compensation at the completion of each follow-up visit in the form of a gift card for youth and a cash honorarium for caregivers. In total families will receive $45 ($30 gift card for youth, $15 for caregiver) at Time 2, $60 ($40 gift card for youth, $20 for caregiver) at Time 3, and $75 ($50 gift card for youth, $25 for caregiver) at Time 4. Should youth be in detention at the time of any of the follow-up visits, the gift cards will be held by staff and given to youth at the time they are released. Home visits will be made to complete all of the assessment instruments; if youth are again in detention at any of these time points, the research staff can repeat the same procedures in a visiting room again.
